Thanksgiving Activity

Last week was full of fun and adventures. We all headed for northwestern IL on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with a pitstop to do a little holiday shopping. The boys were pretty good for shopping, although Andrew took a feeding break in Target. After arriving at G&G Schnitzler's, we got a call from Kelley and Aunt Karen offering to give Jeremiah a ride in the combine or tractor, where they were harvesting. He wasn't too eager to ride but did enjoy watching the combine. Andrew also enjoyed eating in the middle of a cornfield. (Do we see a theme about Andrew's willingness to eat just about anywhere!)

On Sunday, we made fresh noodles for Thanksgiving lunch. Then, Jeremiah rode along with Daddy and Papa to finish taking Uncle Boot's corn to the elevator. He was really good for John and even passed on the opportunity to be picked up early from sitting in the line at the elevator. After enjoying our favorite local pizza that night, John headed back to Tipton and the boys and I stayed a few more days with G&G Schnitlzer. On Monday, cousin Karl came to play with Jeremiah. They were very good boys. Jeremiah even came to me once explaining that he didn't need a time out because he told Karl he was sorry. When I inquired what he was sorry for, he said he pushed him. Karl conquered that he did push him and did apologize. Then, they went on their merry way. Let's hope Jeremiah is that forthcoming with apologies and admittance of guilt in the future!!!

Tuesday was a whirlwind of activity including visit Grandma's friend Arty and attending a middle school basketball game. The boys were great, given all the dragging around we did.

On Wednesday, Jeremiah had an unpleasant meeting with Grandma's glass end table and is sporting a nasty black eye to prove it. We're hoping it fades for family pictures this weekend. (I can't say that I really got a great picture of it, but Grandma T. does). He looks like he is wearing purple eye shadow.
Jeremiah was delighted to find out that Thanksgiving had finally come and that he could have Thanksgiving lunch AND Thanksgiving dinner. Dinner included Shoo Fly Pie, which Jeremiah now has a nice little rhyme about. Thanks Tim for the lovely "come on down" chant that Jeremiah can now recite!
Andrew meets Great-Grandma.

We celebrated Jeremiah's birthday and a little early Christmas on Friday. Andrew had a really rough evening. We're in debate about it being gas and/or over-stimulation.

The rest of our weekend was spent with G&G Todd. Jeremiah went to the park on Saturday with Grandma and enjoyed reading books with Grandpa.

Andrew is starting to smile and sleep for longer stretches at night. However, he is still having a fussy time before settling in for the night. It's a good thing his daddy can be a night owl, because it certainly is not Mommy's best time of day.
