Christmas Activities
The boys had a few busy days of Christmas celebrations with family in northern Illinois. We arrived at Grandma and Grandpa Todd’s house on Friday, Dec. 23. A few hours later we were joined by Carrie, John H., Lucy, (John’s dog) Uncle Matt and Hank (Aunt Ann’s dog). The arrival of the dogs brought much entertainment for the boys over multiple days. They both liked going outside to play with the dogs. That was a good thing, because there was certainly no snow to be playing in. At one point, Jeremiah voiced his concern that Christmas was a “DISASTER” because there was no snow.
In addition to helping with numerous holiday preparations, we attended an afternoon Christmas eve service on Saturday. Then, it was back to G&G’s house for Christmas eve dinner.
Jeremiah shared some of his preschool songs as after dinner entertainment. After daddy read the Christmas story, it was time for bed. However, Jeremiah was so excited, it was hard for him to fall asleep. Andrew’s big milestone is that he slept on the air mattress at Grandma’s – no pack ‘n play!
Jeremiah was speechless when he saw that Santa brought a Wii and the Holly car that he requested. Andrew was just hungry, as we by-passed the stockings to belly up to the kitchen counter for cinnamon rolls, etc. Christmas was a mix of playing with new toys, opening more gifts, and relaxing. They both received many fun gifts, including pillow pets, videos, new Cars blankets, shake and go cars, and more!

On Monday, it was time to head to G&G Schnitzler’s house. The boys played hard with their cousins and were threatened more than once to be sent outside by Grandma. It’s not really a nasty threat when it is in the high 40s on Christmas. Andrew has taken to the ping pong table. He also was kind enough to reveal to Grandma where he had hidden balls to a particular game when he visited over 2 months ago. Oh, meema loves him! We all appreciated the opportunity to be with family for a nice meal and fun activities. These are shots of the boys putting their name ornaments on Grandma's tree.

We helped out with farm tasks on Tuesday and then it was time to pack up and head for home.
