September Recap
September has been a bit of a blur for us all.
We spent Labor Day weekend visiting with the Ganning family in St. Louis. It is so fun to see the boys interact and play together, even when we were trying to get three of them to be quiet in church, where we were celebrating Ashton's baptism.
We've enjoyed tailgating with friends for the Illini games, taking in a few Fisher bunnie football (although we have now been rained on twice), playing outside, starting back to Sunday School and more!
Jeremiah has been busy playing soccer on Saturdays and practicing on Wednesdays. He has been playing on two teams, made a few goals and continues to exhibit his speed. School has proven to exhaust him. However, we discovered part of the reason to be that he is doing some special projects during nap time. He has expressed an interest in space so the teacher has him reading some non-fiction and writing down important facts to share with his class. He is resting right after school to make up for the lack of nap at school.
He was also tested for reading and math. His school offers a 30 minute period each morning while students are placed in small groups based on their skill level. He tested very well for reading so he is spending some time with the first grade accellerated readers. He is with the Kindergarten accellerated for math. He needs to work more on writing his numbers. He was also proud to come home earlier this week and inform us that he had done 3 pull-ups on a physical fitness test.
Andrew had a special moment this month when we went to one of cousin Becca's horse shows in Springfield. Andrew got to sit on her horse! Mommy finds it quite ironic that Andrew is scared of being in the barn with Papa's cows but he will sit on Becca's horse. He, too, enjoys going to Jeremiah's soccer games but would prefer to be on the field.
Mom and Dad traveled to St. Louis mid-month to say goodbye to Great-Grandma Todd. Since it was going to be a very full day, Grandma Schnitzler came to stay with the boys. She and uncle Roger took Andrew to the Illini game and tailgate. It was extra nice that the boys were able to go to the neighbors' birthday party since Grandma was here to take them.
