He wants to help
Jeremiah continues to love summer and being a boy. On a recent trip to the park, he gave me a heart attack climbing one of the pole ladders by himself. He does a great job but it makes me nervous. He now also climbs up and over the wall of his cube. His physical development seems to be moving right along.
Last week, Jeremiah had a speech evaluation because we were getting a little worried about the few words that he can say. However, he checked out to be in the average range. He did very well on the comprehension. The speech therapist gave us some good ideas and we are welcome to have him re-evaluated if we are still concerned in 4-6 months. That same day, I took him for a blood draw. He was a champ!! I didn’t even know they put the needle in because he didn’t cry until they took it out. (I was looking the opposite direction). However, his blood work did show that he is a bit low in iron so he’s now on a supplement. It’s likely that he drinks too much milk for his body to absorb the iron he needs.
The week wasn’t all being poked and observed. We also made our way to the Fisher Fair. He picked up a duck at the carnival, ate some great fish, saw the animals, and clapped with the rest of the crowd during the Redneck Games. He seemed to enjoy watching the tractor pull too. He also enjoyed going to a cookout at the Builta’s, where he played with a whole bucket full of shells, climbed in the tractor and visited the pigs.
He’s also increased his interest in house chores. He now stands on a stool and want to help with dishes and food preparation. We have been letting him put things in the bowls, throw away packages, etc, and he seems to really enjoy this. We just have to work on keeping him contained. He’s also started “relaxing” in the tub. I have no idea what triggered this but he has started to just lay back in the water sometimes. He seems totally content and relaxed and it cracks me up. It also makes it much easier to wash his hair.
We’re headed north to see the grandparents and some friends at the big Elizabeth fair!
