Fly fear factor

We have no idea why but apparently Jeremiah is a bit scared of bugs. He came running terrified from his room this morning and we deduced that this was his reaction to 2 flies in his room. I noticed earlier in the week that he freaked out a bit when a moth went flying by outside. As to not have to deal with a child super-glued to my leg when we venture in to a backyard full of insects, we spent an hour or so on a bug scavenger hunt today. We found bugs that jump, fly around, and crawl. And my final attempt at nipping this little fear was teaching him how to shew away flies. As you probably guessed, this is now a great game! (You can also probably guess why I decided to not teach him to use a fly swatter. I would be scared to learn what would be swatted.) I'll be asking the sitter on Monday if someone there has a bee allergy. That's all I can guess as a cause right now.

Jeremiah has found a new pastime. We've reported before how much he loves music, but now he knows it comes from the computer too! He loves to put on the headphones we have hooked to the computer for the purpose of me listening to lectures, etc. One night this week, when I was busy with the desktop, he and Daddy also enjoyed jamming to the laptop in the living room.

Here's a picture of him at state fair. It was beautiful weather for August in central Illinois. We spent some of the day with family, did some petting of cousin Kelley's cows, and determined that we spent time in very different places than in the past. I guess that happens when you are trying to entertain a 21 month old.
