Oh the places we go!
Jeremiah was a traveling kid this weekend, with adventures taking him to St. Louis, Springfield, and Bloomington.
We ventured out on Friday for St. Louis. We went through Bloomington so John could take care of some paperwork for school. Jeremiah decided this was a great time to take a nap so we just stayed in the car. Then, we were off for St. Louis. We stayed in a hotel in Collinsville and took the Metro in to the ballpark for an evening Cardinals game. Jeremiah was a little squirmy on the train but did just fine. We met John's friend Aaron and his girlfriend Edwina. This was the first time they met Jeremiah. They were going to the game too but we didn't have tickets together. It was plenty warm in St. Louis but nothing like today's 108. He sat through the first 2 innings and then I decided we better get him some eats. Busch stadium has a great little picnic area that was right above our section. It's was perfect for feeding a 9 month old at the ball game. For the rest of the game we were in and out but all in all, he was very good.
After the game we met Aaron and Edwina and decided to get something to eat/drink at the nearby Hooters. That's right, we took our baby to Hooters and are happy to report that we were not the only ones. Ha! The girls swooned over him, including one waitress who made a point of coming over to our table to say what an adorable baby he is.
It was late, nearly 11:30, when we caught the train out but Jeremiah was still going strong and he wasn't even cranky. However, by the time we made it to the car, he had had enough. He had a meltdown while we were changing his clothes. Who can blame him at midnight?
On Saturday, we had a great breakfast at the hotel and then were off for a hot day at the Illinois State Fair. We watched some of my cousin's show sheep, so Jeremiah got up close and personal with a market lamb. We took him to see the butter cow and other must-see IL State Fair sights.
We ended a busy day with a cookout with John's MBA friends in Bloomington. He played in their yard, having a fabulous time on their baby swing. He giggled with delight.
Today, we tried to get some R&R, let him play and enjoy a slower paced day. We even took some time to enjoy the baby pool that Grandma Todd bought him.

What a great week-end. The return of Rick Ankiel to the Cardinals, dates with Hooter girls, and the butter cow. This kid leads a charmed life I tell you.

I hope you bought him a cream puff while you were visiting the cow.

Argh! You should have told me you were at the Fair Saturday! Jon was playing at the Ethnic Village all afternoon; I would've loved to have seen you, you sneak!
