Standing tall

It was another busy week and weekend for our little man - and he is becoming just that - a little man, not a baby. For the past week, Jeremiah has been standing on his own for a few brief minutes. There's no forward movement on his own but he pushes a walking toy around the living room. Indeed, we don't think it will be much longer before he decides to take some steps. I caught him tonight trying to stand up in the middle of the living room. He gets to a squatting position but loses his balance as he tries to stand up all the way.

He's becoming very curious about drawers, boxes, the pantry, etc. He has learned what he can get in to in the bathroom before we take him out and shut the door. The sitter thinks he can really figure things out. She has even started calling him Houdini because last week he was managing to escape from the straps of the stroller.

He has continued to discover his voice and the many sounds he can make. Now, we just need him to do this discovery at a little lower decibel. You would think he has big mouth in his genes - oh wait, he probably does.

We're also learning how to get his giggle going. It's more of a deep chuckle but when we find his tickle spot or he just generally thinks something is silly, we can't help but laugh at his little giggle.

Jeremiah enjoyed a visit from grandma last week. He also had a new baby join him at daycare. Her name is Allison and she is 4 months old. He has taken her pacifier a few times and Shelly has to keep them separated but for the most part, I think he is just curious. Otherwise, it was a pretty standard week is his world.

He's all prepped for his first Illini football game. We had him decked out in his hat for a walk this past weekend. He and I will try to join some friends for a game on Saturday. Ryan R. gave him this hat and we think he looks pretty grown up in it.
