Carrots and sweet potatoes!

Jeremiah has now experienced colored food! Over the weekend he had his first taste of carrots. The face he made was hilarious! We added sweet potatoes to his menu yesterday and he really gobbles those down. He seems to like them a whole bunch more than the carrots. (He can have my sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving!)

With more great weather he has been spending time outside with the babysitter and we're learning the art of dressing in layers that can be removed throughout the day.

He continues to enjoy time in his exersaucer and we've been trying to have him sit in his high chair while we eat dinner.

John came home tonight and mentioned that he is turning in to a little boy already!

The latest adventures

We have been slacking on our "duty" to inform everyone of happenings in Jeremiah's world. So, here are a few updates.
He continues to enjoy cereal time and we have plans to start some other foods this weekend. He also started taking a juice bottle this week, upon recommendation from our pediatrician. I've recently informed people that I never realized that so much of my conversations would involve poop.
Jeremiah enjoyed a visit from Aunt Sandra and Cousin Emma last weekend. They watched him while we went to a St. Patty's Day party. He showed Aunt Sandra all of his tricks, including scooting backwards.
The scooting has become more regular, but it doesn't seem like he has a destination. He just pushes to wherever he gets and then messes with anything he can touch. For example, we have two gyms that he plays with. He was playing with one of them when I ran downstairs to do a quick load of laundry. When I came back he was playing with the other one, which was about a yard away. This was more of a coincidence than intentional scooting.
He has also been introduced to the exersaucer. It's a little big but we propped him with blankets and towels. He really seemed to like being up and able to see. He seems more supported and less awkward in the exersaucer, than the bumbo but we use the bumbo too.
Yesterday, Jeremiah went to the local high school with the babysitter for child development day. She reported that the high schoolers passed him around and he seemed to enjoy all the attention. It threw his schedule off and he must have been tired because she said that he took a long nap after that.
I think that's all the news from Jeremiah's little corner of the world. We'll try to post up some new pictures of him soon.

When we weren't looking

A picture to show how he arches his back. He is doing this all by his own neck strength - not being held.
We had a great weekend visiting grandparents, great-grandmas, aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeremiah loved all the attention and showed off everything that he can do. He played for about 45 minutes when we left on Friday and then crashed for the rest of the drive. Then, he ate some cereal and hung out at Grandma and Grandpa Todd's for a while. We packed back up to go spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa Schnitzler's house. On Saturday he visits Great Grandma S. and then went to town with Grandma and I. When we got back to the house, his cousin Karl, who will be a year in May was there. We had Jeremiah down on the floor and Karl crawled over and took his pacifier out. Jeremiah just looked at him bewildered. Oh my, they are going to be a pair! That night Jeremiah made his first trip to Manny's, one of our favorite places for pizza, with some of the Schnitzler clan.

We spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa Todd's house. Sunday was a good day, complete with lots of holding and playing. Great-grandma Z. even cuddled him for a while. Then, it was back in the car. He slept for a little over 3 hours and then he was one hungry boy! After some of his favorite eats, we were just hanging out. John and I were busy doing some things and I noticed that Jeremiah was on his tummy. I thought John put him there and he thought I put him there. We questioned each other and realized he had rolled over when we weren't even looking! He did it again for us and is now making a regular habit of it.

The weather was beautiful today so we all took a walk this evening. He also went to the park with the babysitter. He seems to be adjusting to the time change better than his parents.

4 month appointment

Jeremiah had his 4-month appointment today. He weighed in at 14 lbs. 14 oz. He is 25 inches long. He's average size, coming in at the 50th percentile. After watching him the doctor warned us that we may have an early crawler. She was also impressed with his interaction. We are sorry to learn that winter is not being kind to his skin so the doctor prescribed a steroidal cream for eczema.

Finally, he got another round of shots. He cried after the nurse stuck him but he was soon asleep after we left the doctor's office. I think he is one of these kids who will be knocked out after shots. With a little bit of Tylenol, he's off to dreamland once again.

Cereal eater

We gave Jeremiah his first taste of rice cereal today. We made sure he wasn't starving, feeding him about an hour before we tried the cereal gig. He wasn't sure what to think at first, not even wanting to open his mouth for the chunky, soupy stuff we were offering him. However, when he realized that it tasted alot like his favorite cuisine, milk, he was on board. Most of it ended up on his bib but we at least exposed him to how the process works. He started to fuss after a while, but we think that was mostly out of frustration that he wasn't getting a full-flowing offer of something that tasted like breastmilk.

We took the obligatory photos and video clips. Here we are.
