Vacation '13

Vacation 2013 was our first summer visit to Grandma and Grandpa Todd's cabin on Long Lake. We left home around 8 a.m. for our full-day drive the lake. All three boys did a great job with the trip, with a few stops, including lunch. Grandma had dinner ready for us when we arrived and then we settled in. 

The next day, the boys and mommy helped clean up the swimming area while Daddy helped Grandpa with a few other projects Then,we got our first of many rides on their new boat. Levi did a great job wearing his life jacket. 

Later that night, the older boys experienced another first - sparklers!

The days that followed included fishing, trips to the sand bar, playing in the yard and more. 

The boys enjoyed "exercising" with Carrie after her run one day. 

On Wednesday, Jeremiah took a thrilling ride on the new tube. He may have had as much fun as his daddy, mommy, aunts, uncles and Grandma! That night, we loaded up at dark to watch Larry the Cable Guy's fireworks. Andrew crashed before the fireworks even started. 

Levi decided that vacation was a great time to start flashing a smile more regularly. He spent a good amount of time making faces at Aunt Carrie on the 4th of July. 

We headed out on the boat for another fireworks show that night, and both boys enjoyed the show this time.

We all enjoyed celebrating Daddy's birthday at the lake. He took more than one nap throughout the week, usually cuddling with Levi. We have pictures of all three boys taking naps with daddy on vacation at the lake.

 Daddy introduced Levi to the lake that day, but he didn't seem too enthused about the cold water.

A goodbye visit

We had a bittersweet visit from Joanna and Elliot Ganning in mid-June. We will miss them being in St. Louis but look forward to visiting them someday in their new town! The boys had a fun day playing and the mommys loved a chance to visit. Joanna snuggled baby Levi a bit too!

And they brought us a fabulous dinner that Andrew helped make. He likes to toss salad!

Two wheeling!

Just before we left on vacation, Jeremiah was successful at riding his two-wheel bike with NO training wheels!! (and more importantly Daddy was successful at teaching him)!

He is now looking forward to picking out a new bike after he reaches a summer reading goal!

Summer fun

Andrew and Jeremiah both spent two weeks in swim lessons. Andrew continued to get more comfortable in the water and took a special liking to his instructor Taylor. Jeremiah was in level three, learning to do the freestyle, back stroke and underwater swimming. He was a big kid taking on the large water slides on the fun days.

They also both enjoyed learning about "standing strong" at vacation bible school. They loved the songs, games, science station and more. Andrew is still singing the song! Jeremiah was disappointed that they only sang two of their songs at church on Sunday. We did get to stay for some fun and a picnic after church.

The school library has also been a regular visit for both boys. Jeremiah is zooming through chapter books and Andrew LOVES using a stick to mark where he gets a book from.

On June 21, we made a trip to the local drive-in for the premiere of the Monsters University movie. All three boys enjoyed being outside. The older two stayed awake for the whole movie and Levi fell asleep for the night while being snuggled.
