February Warm Up

We took advantage of a February heat wave last weekend to enjoy the snow before it melted away. Andrew wasn't extremely excited about the feel of the snow but he did enjoy riding around in the sled. Jeremiah decided to dismantle his snowman because he was starting to melt. And, of course, there were several snow balls launched.

Here are a few shots of us enjoying the a Sunday afternoon in our backyard.

Super Bowl Fun

We enjoyed hosting friends for the Super Bowl a few weeks ago. The adults were nearly equaled by the number of kids, making it a hectic environment but we had a great time hosting. We eventually succombed to turning Cars the movie on in a different room.

The boys and mom made sugar cookies shaped as helmets and hearts. Jeremiah is getting really good at cutting out cookies.

15 month check up

Andrew had his 15 month check-up on Friday. He's our stalky kid. His height of 30 5/8 inches put him in the 34th percentile. Although he looks kind of chubby to us, his weight of 23 lbs. 9 oz only makes him 35th percentile. However, he makes up for those lower numbers with his 80th percentile head!

The doctor said he was doing great with verbal and physical development. She thinks he's a pretty smart little guy. He did have to have his MMR and chicken pox shots. He was none to happy about that and spent much of the rest of Friday as a crabby guy.

Fun to remember

I wanted to be sure to write a few things on the blog so we can remember these fun things.

  • Andrew is now finding great fun in putting coins in his piggy bank! It's a daily treat AND he knows when it is time to get his money after helping with chores, like empty small trash cans.
  • We finally managed to get Andrew's hair cut. It grows like crazy. This is his third cut already.
  • Jeremiah has been busy reading to anyone or anything that will sit to listen. Last night he read multiple books to his stuffed animals.
  • Jeremiah has also been cracking us up with the other things he has been reading. We were talking about Walmart last night when he recited that the shopping bag kite he made at preschool says "Walmart, Save Money, Live Better" Dad noted that he must be a marketing and advertising executives dream come true!

Blizzard Fun

Tuesday and Wednesday brought ugly weather to our area. A combination of sleet, snow and wind was classified as Blizzard 2011.

Mom, Dad and boys were all awarded a snow day on Wednesday, which meant a day filled with projects that had been put off, games, and playing in the snow. This week's weather also gave Jeremiah his first experience of school being canceled. We thought he might be bothered by it but was agreeable to the explanation that the storm made it so he couldn't have school. We let him wear his PJs to daycare on Thursday because he had to miss his pajama, movie and popcorn party at preschool.

Here are a few pictures of our fun in the snow. The one picture we don't have is that of Jeremiah turning a snow drift in to a lounge chair.

A cousin visit

Last weekend, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Leisa and Karl came for a short visit. Karl and Jeremiah pulled a late-nighter on Friday night, staying up even after Aunt Leisa. We think they fell asleep in their sleeping bags and matching pajamas somewhere between 10:30 and 11. They were also sure to get in some computer game time together.

On Saturday, Jeremiah and Andrew enjoyed playing with Karl, while the others had to go to some meetings. Among a flurry of movies, legos, games, and general playing, Karl and Jeremiah played outside. It was pretty warm and the snow was FINALLY good for the construction of a snowman. The boys did a great job building this guy.
