Relay, playdates and more

I don't have much time but wanted to get you a quick update on Jeremiah. He has now managed to explore about every corner of our living room. It takes him a while but through a combination of rolling, shuffling, twisting and scooting, he gets around. He hasn't left the living room yet.

On Saturday, we all participated in Relay for Life. We outfitted his stroller with a sign. The theme was MargaRelayville. We also got 6 month pictures taken. We didn't think they were as good as his 3 month but we discovered that it is harder to get a 6 month old to sit still. We got a few we like.

On Sunday, Jeremiah and I went to a sudo-playdate. He had a good time playing with a 9 month old and a 31/2 year old.

His new found fun toy of the week is a soft book. Someone gave this to him as a gift so if it was you now you know he is enjoying it!

That's about all for now. We'll try to tell you more later this week.

A busy guy

Jeremiah has had a very busy week, complete with shots, house guests and outings.

On Tuesday night he traveled with some of my family to surprise Grandma Schnitzler as she received the Postmaster of the Year award in Effingham. He danced with a variety of Grandma's friends and giggled hysterically at cousin Isabella. Wednesday was his doctor's appointment. I don't mean to misrepresent his tough-guy image. He only let out a little cry and was fine by the time the nurse left the room. He did, however, give her the "what the heck was that for" eyebrow.

On Friday night, he got snuggles from a group of our friends but was asleep when we got home so Grandma and Aunt Carrie had to wait until Saturday morning. That was fine, because they watched him for quite a while on Saturday while we went to my work to do some graduation-related tasks. Aunt Carrie is going to Spain for a couple months so she needed to fill up on hugs and play time.

Today we enjoyed my first mothers' day with brunch on the lawn of the Allerton mansion and then strolling through the gardens. Jeremiah and dad also sprung for flowers for my flower beds. We let him lay on a blanket in the lawn while we planted the flowers. He was so funny feeling the grass and being curious. The whole neighborhood had to hear him squealing.

Here's a great picture John snapped of us on my first mothers' day.

Six month stats

Jeremiah had his six month doctor appointment yesterday. He was a trooper with his shots. He cried at first but was fine by the time we were leaving the office.

He weighed in just short of 17 lbs. at 16 lbs. 15 oz. He was 26 5/8 inches long. These are both 50th percentile. However, he has a big head. He is in the 75th percentile for that.

Cardinals win!!

Jeremiah went to his first Cardinals' game on Sunday. He was a very good boy and even slept for a little over an hour during the game. The Cardinals even won! Thanks to Nikki and Jane for taking us to Busch Stadium.

In other news, Jeremiah is scooting a little bit. He spins himself around on his belly and after enough time does make forward movement. However it takes a while and you only notice after he has been down for quite some time.

He loves chewing on anything. We recently caught him practicing putting his foot in his mouth. (This is a definite family skill. Ha!) This little rubber foot was a favorite of his cousins and now he loves gnawing on it too!
