North and back

Jeremiah was a great traveler, once again. Given the circumstances of our week he was very well-behaved. He was a little loud in church, but did OK. I'm not sure he will remember any of this week or if he understands anything that has happened but we've been trying to talk about it in terms he might start to understand.

His cousins had fun showcasing his little tricks and he got to spend a little time with Grandma Todd. That gave us a break for a bit. He also helped do chores at Papa's farm! He's becoming much more comfortable with the cows and enjoyed seeing the lambs jump around.

In the midst of all the other week events, he had another big milestone. He used his potty chair! He has graced us with both #1 and #2 in the potty. We aren't pushing it, but trying to have him sit on the potty when he wakes up and before bath or bed.

Have to share

These two little instances were too good not to share and I wanted to do it before I forgot.

On Tuesday night, we were finishing up dinner. Jeremiah was practicing his animal sounds. He announced some of the animals and what they said and then was asking us to prompt him with either the animal name or the sound and he would announce the match. We did the typical cow, sheep, pig, etc. Then, John asked him what says "Honk honk" (thinking of a goose) and Jeremiah answered with enthusiasm "a car!" It was so funny!

This morning, Jeremiah came in to the bathroom while I was getting ready and announced that he wanted to sing the news song. I wasn't really sure what he was thinking but I told him to go ahead and the words that came out of his mouth cracked me up. I believe the "News Song" goes something like this, "I wanna watch the weather, I wanna watch the weather!" He had created that lovely piece of musical entertainment on his own! Too cute...and a little creatively scary. We'll have to see if we can get a recorded version.

Big Boy Bed!

Big update!!

On Saturday night, Jeremiah announced that he would sleep "in dat bed," as he pointed at the twin bed in his bedroom. We played along and tucked him in, while we anticipated that we would see him in the living room a few minutes after we left his room. We were wrong, so we quickly unearthed the bed rail from the basement and put it on the bed. He spent the whole night in the big boy bed. Tonight will be his third night there.

We can't believe this just happened - no suggesting, no trying to climb out of his crib.

I'm looking forward to rewarding him with a new boy bedspread that will go with the sports sheets he got from Mama and Papa for Christmas.

Party time and video highlights

I'm surprised we haven't received any notes from Jeremiah's adoring fans about how we are slacking on updating his blog. We did get him over his sickness and back to some normal routines.

On Sunday, he enjoyed a house full of people for a Super Bowl party. He was the big boy interacting with some of the smaller kids and entertained Alyson B. in his room, where we had stashed most of his toys away.

His appetite has increased again and we are intrigued by his willingness to try just about anything. He had his Dad's rather-spicy chili with us for dinner one night this week.

We continue to be amazed at the stuff he picks up and what he will say! He likes to sing his ABCs and I finally caught this on video. He recognizes most of his capital letters and is starting to learn the lower case.

Additionally, with all the coverage of the inauguration, he heard Obama's name several times and started repeating it. All political feelings aside, I took it upon myself to make sure he knew what the name was. I'll just let the video speak for itself.

Oh, we also wanted to show you his new hat. This hat was a mutual Grandma effort. Grandma S. bought the fabric when she visited in December. Grandma T. sewed it when she visited in December. I finished it by adding the velcro. There's a little room for him to grow in to it, but he's received several compliments about it.
