Quick spring trip

We enjoyed a weekend visiting grandparents and family up north during the last part of Jeremiah's spring break. We helped out with some projects and relaxed.

Jeremiah and cousin Karl went to a story time with the Easter bunny. Andrew opted to stay at grandma's house with daddy. (Although he reports that he gave the Easter bunny a high five at the mall with his sitter!)

That night, Jeremiah, Mommy and Daddy went to cousin Kyle's high school play. Andrew stayed with G&G Schnitzler, taking Grandpa in several rounds of pick-up ducks!

Jeremiah has also taken quite the interest in March Madness. He watched a great number of basketball games Friday to Sunday and has his own collection of stats to rattle off!

The boys had a long drive home on Sunday, spending the last part of the trip in a nastry spring snow storm, but arrived safely eventually.

Spring Snow

Apparently mother nature was confused because we received our biggest snow storm this year during the first week of spring. Our totals were somewhere between 11 and 13 inches.
The boys and daddy enjoyed a snow day. They even made a snowman.

While mom is "working"

Although Jeremiah inquired if we could go to Disney World when I picked him up on Thursday and told him that he was on spring break, we instead made a short trip to Chicago. On our way, we stopped to watch cousin Isabella do a show choir performance in Watseka. Then, we grabbed a quick dinner and allowed for the mandatory 20 minutes of what daddy calls "hotel excitement time" after checking in.

We got a slow, relaxed start on Sunday. The boys and daddy spent nearly an hour in the hotel pool. Mommy enjoyed watching them all and taking pictures. After we all made a dent in the hotel buffet (the boys ate their fair share of breakfast items!), we headed in to the city. Daddy and the boys enjoyed a few hours at the Chicago Field Museum, while mommy took a cab across town to host guests at the Big Ten Tournament.

On our way home, we stopped to get some soccer cleats for Jeremiah and met cousins Isabella and Sophia for dinner. (Their parents and Emma were out of town.) We arrived home about 9:30 and tried to settle in. We were a little worse for wear on Monday but are trying to get back in the swing while Jeremiah is still on spring break.

February highlights

In addition to Jeremiah's ski outing, we had a few other highlights in February. We welcomed grandma and grandpa s. for a visit mid-month. The boys convinced grandpa to play a long game of Sequence and got grandma to play Operation. Mom and Dad even got a little bit of a break! Andrew continues to enjoy tumbling and is learning several fundamentals, balance and motions. Now, if he could only stand still and listen while waiting for his turn! The big news from Andrew is that we are declaring him potty trained! It was like a switch flipped and he made the decision to go independently! We should not be surprised as he always seems to want to be his own independent person, on his own time and in his own way!

Here is Andrew practicing his cartwheel.
